Potholes
Potholes, the bane of a cyclist’s life. But don’t just complain about them, do something to get them fixed. Take a photo of the pothole when you encounter it, then go to FixMyStreet to report it.
You can make a report without creating an account, but if you do create one you will get updates from the Council, and will be able to see how long it’s take them to get around to it. You can also download a FixMyStreet app from Google Play or the Apple App Store. This makes it easier to check the status of holes you’ve already reported.
Oxfordshire has been using the Dragon Patcher since 2018 and claims that the machine can fix up to 200 potholes per day at a fraction of the cost of conventional methods (which begs the question of why we still have so many potholes?)
If you feel it is likely that someone will hurt themselves in the next few hours, call 0345 310 1111. This advice comes from Oxfordshire County Council (OCC)’s webpage on Road, cycle and footpath repairs, which recommends using FixMyStreet.
